I have a couple of projects in the works that use both EWQL, GPO4 and Mixcraft instruments within the same project and I have not seen any major hang ups with CPU usage. I am still "hyming and hawing" on whether I want to dish out another $149 for it.Īnyways. I was looking at getting it for those times you need to "whip" something together real fast. They said maybe but not in the immediate future. I wrote to them and asked if they were planning to offer a price discount on Instant Orchestra for registered owners of GPO4. The samples are much better sounding there but then again, the street price is over 5 times the price of GPO4. It came with the iLok key so it is legal. I have East West Symphony Gold only because I got it for $112 off ebay. If you two haven't done it yet, you should join the Garritan forums. GPO4 is a good place to start learning about orchestration.

You can make ensembles within GPO4 but you need to know about orchestration. Where did you find that? I thought build 180 was the latest and greatest. You said you are using Mixcraft 6 build 183. I do feel a little uneasy at the thought of having to freeze tracks, however. Looks like GPO is what I will be going for. Please let me know if you need any further information. If you want a great sounding orchestra quickly without much effort, then Instant Orchestra is the right product. I wanted to learn the art of orchestration and hence I preferred GPO.

Whereas in GPO you can use the solo instruments and at the same time you can create an ensemble (on your own). When you want a Violin track, whether you need or not it will be come with Cello, Viola etc. But then I realised from one of the feedback that when using Instant Orchestra, you don't have choice of using a single instrument. I had the same doubt, whether to go for GPO or Garritan Instant Orchestra and I almost made up my mind to buy Garritan Instant Orchestra. However freezing tracks should solve the problem.Ģ. CPU usage is definitely high when compared to using Mixcraft provided instruments. Please find below my response to your questions:ġ. Can you still do ensembles aswell as individual instruments with GPO? This is the part I need to get right in my own mind. I need to decide between GPO or Garritan Instant Orchestra. East West looks like it has better sounding instruments, but the cost is way higher. You are heading in the direction I intend to be going soon. I am still learning the art of orchestrationĪs usual WELCOME YOUR COMENTS AND CRITICISM.ġ Did GPO work OK with Mixcraft? Did the individual instruments bump up the CPU usage?Ģ. Please note my usage of GPO depicted in this instrumental is only 20% of what actually is possible with GPO. My Personal comments on GPO: The quality of instruments is not great, but having a library like that for £120 is AWESOME! The background of the instrumental (Rhythm, Strings and Flutes) are from GPO. I have still used few instruments from Mixcraft ike Pianissimo, Lead Flute, Sax, Windchimes. Please find link to the Instrumental done to check out using Garritan library. I have bought Garritan Personal Orchestra. I had a discussion with few Mixcraft users here couple of weeks back regarding Garritan Personal Orchestra.
